What we believe
Every prayer Quiet Amen makes stands on the faith Christians have confessed together for centuries: the Apostles' Creed. Evangelical and mainline churches say it alike, and so do we.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic (universal) Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
The traditional English text, as in the Book of Common Prayer. "Catholic" here means universal: the whole Church of every believer, everywhere, as Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian and Anglican churches read it. It does not mean the Roman Catholic Church.
What that means for each day
- Scripture first. Each day is built on one passage, quoted word for word from the World English Bible, and named (book, chapter and verse) so you can read it in your own Bible, whichever translation you use.
- Prayer to God. We pray to the Father, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit. Never to saints or to Mary, and nothing borrowed from other faiths: no mantras, no "manifesting".
- No promises God didn't make. No prayer promises health, money or a result. We pray for what Scripture invites us to ask.
- No sides where churches differ. Baptism, spiritual gifts, the end times, worship style: your church teaches you there. We stay with what the creed holds in common.
- Checked twice. A second, separate check reads every day before it reaches you: the passage quoted exactly and used in its context, nothing promising outcomes, nothing taking a side where churches differ. Spot something that doesn't sit right? Write to support@quietamen.com: we read every message and fix what's wrong.
Quiet Amen is not a church and doesn't replace yours. It is ten guided minutes a day to help you keep praying. How each day is made: how it's made. Who runs it: who runs Quiet Amen.
